“Cebu is a very beautiful Island, comparable to your neighboring Bali and Phuket, the challenge lies on how we can let others experience what Cebu has to offer. “ This was the initial answer offered by our newest General Manager, Mr. Simon Yang when I asked him how he’d find Cebu.
It was a very casual interview, I had set-up an appointment with Ms. Ivy the moment I learned that the newsletter’s editorial team had took the liberty electing me to interview our GM. I was tucked away at the Events Office when GM Simon dropped by and reminded me that I have to see him. Good thing I made that appointment.
“We are an ideal family destination. And I am positive that in due time we will be the best Family destination in Asia.” GM Simon Yang was straightforward when describing his vision for the property, “couple it with the Filipino’s brand of hospitality it’s a sure win” he added.
GM Simon has been busy building relationship with our client base. During his first month he had met up with our key account partners alongside the Sales and Marketing Team and had scheduled sales trip to our Manila Sales Office to further strengthen our bond with our market base. “I need to take lead for us to meet our vision. Hotel property is different; let’s say from a manufacturing company. If a manufacturing company produces a computer for instance, they could still sell that computer anytime. For us once we lost an opportunity to sell our rooms, it’s lost forever.”
Luxe destinations in the Philippines. PHILTOA or Philippine Tour Operators Association is an organization of tour operators and allied members actively involved in the advocacy of responsible tourism. I have asked him to expound on what he means regarding the Filipino’s brand of hospitality. “I’ve been to a lot of places around the world and almost everywhere you can see Filipinos. And everyone around the world recognizes that talent and charm. It’s our advantage. The Filipinos attitude and kindness and willingness to try new things, that’s your brand of hospitality.” Indeed GM Simon Yang has been around the world starting as the Sales and Recreation Manager of the 5 star Pacific Islands Club (PIC) Resort in Saipan. Ask our Korean guests about Imperial and you would surely get an answer that we are like PIC. He soon became Regional Director for the Pacific Island Holiday in Seoul, Korea. He had been to most part of Asia serving as Project Development Consultant. He was most recently the Group General Manager at the Holiday Resort and Spa in Guam and the Rota Resort and Country Club in the Mariana Islands before joining us here as General Manager.
“We have a very unique concept, what we are working on now is to develop our unique system, our own unique process to enable us to share Imperial Palace Waterpark Resort & Spa Cebu’s unique lifestyle experience.” According to GM Simon it is a work-in-progress. Once we establish and get our system working, GM Simon is looking forward to introduce our hotel concept to other destination. “I also need to create new opportunities for the property and for everyone here for that matter.” Now that’s something to look forward to for everyone.
